Armed forces apply experience of fighting in Syria during exercises in Chechnya
More than 1500 soldiers and officers took part in the military exercises held in the Shali District of Chechnya, with taking advantage of the military experience gained in the Middle East. Motorized rifle exercises were also held in Dagestan, North Ossetia, and the Stavropol Territory.
Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by an official from the Chechen military commandant's office that two motorized rifle subdivisions of the 42nd Guard Division of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) deployed in Chechnya were involved in the military exercises that took place at military training grounds in Chechnya, Dagestan, and North Ossetia.
In total, during the period from August 3 to 9, nine tactical exercises were held in Chechnya, Dagestan, North Ossetia, and the Stavropol Territory, the press service for the Southern Military District reported.
In December 2019, more than 500 soldiers and officers took part in military exercises in mountains of Chechnya, with using the experience gained in Syria in controlling unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for reconnaissance in the rear.
In February 2020, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Pavel Felgenhauer, a military observer of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta", that the increased use of UAVs in military exercises proves the restructuring of the army and the introduction of new technologies.
