NKR commemorates victims of Beirut explosion
The participants of the commemoration action lit candles in the temples of Stepanakert and district centres of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) in memory of the victims of the Beirut explosion.
A powerful explosion occurred on August 4 in the area of Beirut seaport. More than 100 people were killed, over 4000 were injured; dozens of houses and cars were destroyed and damaged. According to local authorities, the explosion was caused by the detonation of 2700 tons of ammonium nitrate confiscated by customs services and stored in a warehouse.
On August 7, activists of public organizations took part in lighting candles in churches of Stepanakert and seven regional centres of the NKR in memory of victims of the explosion, David Gukasyan, the Head of the Youth Affairs Division of the NKR's Ministry of Military Patriotism, Youth, Sports and Tourism, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
In the morning on August 8, memorial services were held in all the churches of the NKR in memory of victims of the explosion in Lebanon.
