Sources report about an Ingush wrestler fleeing during CTO

Muslim Yevloev, an Asian freestyle wrestling champion, was not killed during a counterterrorist operation (CTO) in Ingushetia, while he managed to escape, sources reported. The CTO took place after a fighter of the National Guard of Russia had been killed near the village of Yandare.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from the evening on August 6, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) was underway in Nazran and the village of Sagopshi in the Malgobek District of Ingushetia. A source from the law enforcement bodies mentioned two killed militants and one detained person. Meanwhile, sources from the sports circles of Ingushetia reported that one of the killed suspects was identified as Muslim Yevloev, an Asian freestyle wrestling champion.

Today, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has confirmed that during the CTO carried out in Nazran and the Sagopshi village, law enforcers killed two and detained one person. Firearms, ammunition, and an improvised explosive device (IED) were found at the place of the armed clash. The killed suspects and the detainee "intended to commit a number of terror acts on the territory of the republic," the NAC reports on its website.

The NAC also reports that the suspected militants are identified, but does not disclose their names.

According to a source from the law enforcement bodies, Muslim Yevloev was not found among the killed suspects, and the detainee was identified as a relative of the wrestler. The law enforcement bodies suggest that Muslim Yevloev himself managed to escape, the TASS reports with reference to a source. According to the same source, the CTO was carried out as a part of the criminal investigation into the case on killing of the fighter of the National Guard of Russia in late July.

On July 28, Uvais Aliev, a 32-year-old Senior Lieutenant of the National Guard of Russia, was shot dead on the outskirts of the Yandare village. Investigators did not determine the main version of the murder. Meanwhile, the incident was most likely an attack of extremists, a source from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.
