After report from Volgograd action, "Caucasian Knot" correspondent summoned to police

Volgograd law enforcers have opened an administrative case against the journalist, Tatiana Filimonova, who covered for the "Caucasian Knot" the rally in support of Khabarovsk protesters, held on August 1. At the venue of the rally, policemen were not interested in the journalist's ID, Ms Filimonova has noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since July, Volgograd activists have been holding pickets in support of Khabarovsk residents who are protesting and demanding an objective investigation of the case of Sergey Furgal, a former head of the region. On August 1, about 70 townspeople gathered in central Volgograd to feed pigeons, and brought with them posters in support of Khabarovsk protesters.

Tatiana Filimonova, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, was summoned to the police station in connection with her work at the action held in Volgograd on August 1 in support of Khabarovsk protesters. In the morning on August 4, policemen came to Tatiana's home and served a notification about the initiation of an administrative case to her.

The case was initiated under Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding a public event).

On the assignment of the "Caucasian Knot", Tatiana Filimonova, took comments from the participants of the protest action, held in central Volgograd. The journalist's ID and the editorial assignment were with her, but policemen were not interested in these documents.

"During those actions, policemen several times urged those present to disperse, telling them that the action was unsanctioned. There were also journalists from other editions there. Policemen didn't approach any of us, didn't ask for our IDs, and didn't ask us any questions. We worked quietly – we took interviews and made photos and videos. It was a shock for me to receive that piece of paper (notification)," Ms Filimonova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
