Azerbaijan counts 30 Armenian attacks

The positions of the Azerbaijani Army located in five villages near the Armenian border were shelled, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 3, Azerbaijan claimed machine-gun and sniper attacks in the conflict zone, counting 35 ceasefire violations by the Armenian side during the last 24 hours.

"During the last 24 hours, units of the Armenian Armed Forces, by using large-calibre machine guns, violated the ceasefire for 30 times in various sections of the frontline," the Azerbaijani MoD has stated on its website today.

According to the MoD, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the villages of Alibeili, Agdam, Kokhanebi, Asrik Djyrdakhan of the Tovuz District, and in the village of Zamanly of the Gadabay District came under fire.

As of 10:00 a.m. Moscow time today, the MoDs of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh had placed no comments to the above statement on their websites.

On July 12, the conflict intensified on the border in the Tovuz District of Azerbaijan and the Tavush Region of Armenia. According to the official information, in the period from July 12 to 27, six soldiers were killed from the Armenian side, while the Azerbaijani authorities reported 13 killed people. No new casualties have been reported since July 27.
