Residents of Chechnya criticize Kadyrov Foundation's action on Eid al-Adha

The Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation has failed with its promise to distribute sheep for sacrifice on the Eid al-Adha holiday to all those in need, residents of Chechnya claim, pointing to the non-transparency of help distribution by the Foundation.

The Foundation has allocated 20,000 heads of small livestock for the poor residents of Chechnya and families of perished law enforcers, so that they could perform the traditional sacrifice ritual on Eid al-Adha, the "Grozny" TV Channel reported. A source from the clergy of the Gudermes District said that "the alms will reach everyone in need."

However, Instagram users left critical comments about this. "Residents of our village receive nothing," said the user ichh______, suggesting that employees of the Foundation distribute the sheep among their relatives. "I have nine children; and they gave me nothing – they spread everything among themselves," the user lari_sa38 has agreed.

"I've noticed that not only needy families, but also well-to-do ones receive help here. It depends on the degree of kinship or acquaintance with officials and those in charge of spreading," said Khava, a woman from Grozny.

The Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation has repeatedly announced foodstuff aid to residents; amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Foundation's activity has intensified; however, local residents have reported that not all those in need receive help.
