Social network users outraged by awarding Chechen officer who fought in Ukraine
Zamid Chalaev, the commander of the A. Kadyrov special purpose regiment, while congratulating his colleague on his birthday in social networks, said that the officer had fought in Ukraine, South Ossetia, Libya and Syria. Instagram users drew attention to the contradictions of Ramzan Kadyrov's official position with the words of the regiment commander.
Instagram users asked Chalaev where his colleague got so many medals from.
"He was in Ukraine and Libya, then in Syria and South Ossetia," Chalaev replied.
"There're no our people in Ukraine," the user tvorojoke has noted ironically.
"How should we understand this: have Chechens fought against the Ukrainians?" the user thedokuchaev has asked.
Let us remind you that in 2014, members of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) confirmed the participation of fighters from Chechnya in the armed conflict; and Chechen law enforcers and residents reported about the dispatch of special fighter of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) to the border with Ukraine.
In May 2014, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, confirmed the presence of his republic's natives in the combat zone in Ukraine, but treated the organized participation of Chechen special forces in the conflict as "absolute lie."
