Georgian villager released after being detained at border
Malkhaz Lezhava, a resident of the village of Medjvriskhevi, detained at the border with South Ossetia, has been released and placed under quarantine in Georgia, the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) has reported.
Law enforcers detained Lezhava on July 25. The EU Monitoring Mission was informed and the hotline was activated; and Lezhava was released on the same day, The "InterPressNews" informs.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 26, Zaza Gakheladze, a citizen of Georgia, wounded by South-Ossetian border guards, whose liberation was demanded by activists, was transferred from the hospital to the isolation facility. Residents of border villages are moving to other regions in order to avoid kidnappings, Gakheladze's fellow villagers have reported.
