Three soldiers from Ingushetia injured in Syria in terror act

Three fighters of the military police from Ingushetia were injured while being on patrol in the Syrian city of Idlib. The injured soldiers stay in stable condition.

Last night, the Russian aviation attacked militant positions in the north-western part of Syria in response to a terror act, an official from the Chechen military commandant's office reported.

The militants blew up an improvised explosive device (IED), and the Turkish troops were also affected by the terror act, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD). "As a result of the explosion, an armoured personnel carrier of the Russian military police and a Turkish armoured car were damaged. Three Russian soldiers were slightly injured," reported the Russian MoD as quoted by the "Kommersant".

In Syria, the peacekeepers monitor the rule of law, accompany humanitarian convoys, and are involved in the transportation of refugees. A battalion of the military police consists of special forces fighters. The authorities of Ingushetia reported that soldiers themselves voiced a wish to be enlisted in the battalion of the military police.

Fighters of the military police from the units of the Russian MoD of the Southern Military District stay in Syria on the regular basis. In particular, the military police battalions from Chechnya, Ingushetia, and Dagestan serve in Syria.
