Azerbaijani citizens forbidden to contact their relatives after arrival from Kullar

The citizens of Azerbaijan, who have arrived from Dagestan to their homeland, are satisfied with the living conditions in the quarantine tent camp set up near the Samur border checkpoint. Until the end of quarantine, they are forbidden to contact their relatives, since COVID-19 is diagnosed in some of the arrivals.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a temporary accommodation centre (TAC) was opened on the border of the Derbent and Magaramkent Districts of Dagestan for the citizens of Azerbaijan who failed to get home due to the border closure. On June 15, a protest action took place in the tent camp, which turned into clashes with law enforcers.

Another group of 250 people arrived in Azerbaijan on July 7. They all were placed into the quarantine centre organized by the Azerbaijani Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) near the border in the Gusar District. Upon arrival, all the citizens have undergone medical examination; they will stay there for 7-14 days – depending on doctors' conclusions.

At least seven of the arrivals in Azerbaijan from Dagestan were hospitalized due to suspected coronavirus, Khalid Gasymov, an inhabitant of the quarantine centre, said.

"We've arrived in buses. Before we were allowed into the camp, we were remotely measured body temperature. For the vast majority, it was normal. In about ten people, it proved to be increased; they were separated and sent to the tent medical centre. Of them, some 7-8 people were sent with the COVID-19 suspicion, as we were told, to the Guba regional hospital," Mr Gasymov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, by the arrival of a new group of citizens the camp was empty. "We were told that one day before the arrival of our group, all the previous inhabitants, in whom coronavirus was not confirmed, were sent home. We were accommodated five persons in a tent. They gave us clean beddings. There is a table and a fan in each tent; the floor is covered with plywood, for us not to walk on the ground. They serve us meals three times a day," Khalid Gasymov has added.
