Forced migrants from Chechnya share details of brawl with law enforcers in Magas

No rally was planned outside the Ingush administration; forced migrants from Chechnya gathered to sign a group appeal to the authorities, said Madina Dzortova, the head of the initiative group.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 30, forced migrants from Chechnya gathered near the administration building of the head of Ingushetia aiming to record a video message to the president. Law enforcers invited members of the initiative group to go to the police station and give explanations, but they refused. When they tried to detain the activists, a brawl broke out; four participants thereof were detained.

In February 2018, about 200 forced migrants from Chechnya complained that they had lost their refugee status and the right to obtain housing, having received meagre compensations.

Madina Dzortova, the head of the initiative group of forced migrants from Chechnya, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on July 6 that activists had no intent to hold a rally.

"We wanted to hand the package of documents personally to the administration head, Ilyas Ugurchiev (the head of the administration of the head of the Republic of Ingushetia, – note of the "Caucasian Knot")," Ms Dzortova has stated.

She said that she intended to appeal against law enforcers' actions: "Most likely, I'll sue law enforcers for their illegal actions."

In relation to Madina Dzortova, a protocol was drawn up for disobeying the lawful order of a law enforcer. On the same day, she was taken to the Magas District Court; however, the judge found her innocent and stopped the case, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reported on July 2.
