Defence announces examination outcomes in blogger Malika Djikaeva's case

Experts have confirmed the version of Malika Djikaeva, a blogger from North Ossetia, that she had not taken narcotic drugs. The girl's arrest in Chechnya was extended until mid-August.

Malika Djikaeva, an Instagram blogger, was detained in Grozny in March on suspicion of storing drugs. Her relatives are sure that the drugs had been planted on her in order to punish for posting the shocking videos in the hijab.

Djikaeva's video clips may be painfully perceived by Muslims, but they contain no direct abuse of Islam, the Orientalists interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe.

According to Lema Khaidaeva, a lawyer, the results of two examinations speak in favour of Djikaeva's innocence.

Karina Djikaeva, Malika's sister, said that from mid-April relatives had no contacts with her.

Let us remind you that earlier Chechen rights defenders and activists had been convicted for drug possession. Thus, in March 2019, Oyub Titiev, the head of the Grozny branch of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", was found guilty under this article; and in September 2016, Zhalaudi Geriev, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, was convicted of possessing marijuana and sentenced to three years in prison. Both convicts claimed that the drugs had been planted on them.
