Law enforcers report four detainees after scuffle in Magas

In the city of Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, forced migrants from Chechnya recorded a video appeal to Russian President asking him to solve their housing problems.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 30, forced migrants from Chechnya gathered near the administration building of the head of Ingushetia aiming to record a video message to Vladimir Putin. When law enforcers tried to detain the activists, a brawl broke out.

In February 2018, about 200 forced migrants from Chechnya complained that they had lost their refugee status and the right to obtain housing, having received meagre compensations.

The migrants insist to meet Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, the head of Ingushetia.

"After the war, we've been homeless for almost 25 years; the previous heads fed us with promises," Madina Dzortova, the head of the initiative group, has explained.

Isiyat Dzaurova, a mother of many children, has been living in Ingushetia since 1994, but has never received any housing. She has added that she also has health problems.

In December 2019, the forced migrants from Chechnya said that refusals to extend their resettlers' status had lead to a disastrous situation due to housing problems.

After talking with officials, law enforcers approached the protesters and demanded that several activists follow them.

After the brawl, law enforcers detained Madina Dzortova, said Kureish Galaev, one of the protesters.

According to police, four out of 15 participants of the action were detained after the police "demanded to stop an unauthorized rally."
