Head of Adygea demands tighter control over weddings and funerals

Authorities, acting jointly with Muslim and Orthodox spiritual leaders, must prevent crowds at weddings and funerals, Murat Kumpilov, the head of Adygea, has stated amid an increase in the number of coronavirus infections.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May, the "Rospotrebnadzor" branch for Adygea announced that there was an outbreak of coronavirus in the region due to a crowded funeral that took place in the village of Bzhedugkhabl of the Krasnogvardeisky District. On May 21, despite requests of local residents, Albert Osmanov, the district head, was dismissed.

The epidemiological situation in Adygea is unstable; therefore, it is important not to allow crowds during weddings and funerals, Murat Kumpilov has demanded.

The number of coronavirus deaths in Adygea since the pandemic start has reached 14.

Since June 20, local Muslims resumed daily namazes (prayers); and Orthodox churches reopened on June 22.
