Law enforcers disperse Azerbaijanis' protest in Kullar

A protest action held by Azerbaijani citizens in the Dagestan village of Kullar ended in mass detentions, eyewitnesses inform.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June, the Azerbaijani citizens, who were waiting for return to their homeland in a tent camp near the Dagestani village of Kullar, went on a hunger strike, demanding to accelerate their return home. On June 15, they staged a protest action that grew into clashes with law enforcers. Policemen used tear gas and truncheons against the protesters; some of them received traumas.

On June 9, a group of 130 Azerbaijani citizens crossed the border; and on June 15, residents of the tent camp announced a new inflow of their fellow countrymen to the border. On June 16, it was planned to send another group of 240 people home.

"Law enforcers acted harshly, many received traumas ... Women and children are scared, crying," one of the camp residents said.

"The action was massive, as people's patience is exhausted. They suffer not only from poor living conditions, heat, but also from uncertainty. We are not told how long we'll stay here," the source has added.
