Natives of Chechnya involved in clashes in France

At least ten people were injured in a conflict involving natives of Chechnya, the Prosecutor's Office of the French city of Dijon reported.

The clashes in Dijon began at night on June 13. Several dozen people attacked the "Le Black Pearl" hookah bar with knives and baseball bats. The police used tear gas to disperse them, the "France Info" reports.

The Deputy Prosecutor of Dijon reported about ten injured people, some of whom staying in severe condition. The clashes were provoked by a wound of a 16-year-old French resident of Chechen origin, reported the "Al Chechnya" on Twitter. After that, "Chechens from all over France gathered to go to Dijon."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 12, 2018, in Paris, a young man attacked passers-by with a knife and killed one and injured four others. The attacker was shot dead by the police and identified as Khamzat Azimov, a native of Chechnya. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court. On June 3, 2018, in France, about 500 protesters condemned the actions of Khamzat Azimov and called on the media to stop the campaign against Chechens.

The leader of Chechnya claimed France was responsible for the actions of Khamzat Azimov. In response, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called Ramzan Kadyrov a "dictator" and pointed to human rights violations in the republic.
