Activists accuse NKR authorities of breaking self-isolation
The banquet participants on the occasion of the inauguration of President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) have violated the self-isolation regime and should be fined, the "Union of Informed Citizens" has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Araik Arutyunyan, the former Prime Minister, was elected the head of the region. His inauguration took place on May 21 amid a protest rally.
A photo from the banquet appeared on the Facebook, in which officials of Armenia and the NKR and guests celebrate the event by neglecting the quarantine measures.
Earlier, the NKR opposition claimed that, at the height of the epidemic, the party of the new president held a meeting by gathering more than 300 people indoors without protective means.
Some social network users have criticized the banquet organized by NKR amid the coronavirus epidemic. "A feast during the plague," Karen Egiazaryan has written. "Laws should be equal for everyone," Tatev Zakaryan has emphasized.
The office of the NKR commandant has stated that wearing protective masks is not mandatory in the republic, while the ceremonial reception at the inauguration was part of an event not covered by restrictions.
