Police announce ban on movement throughout Chechnya during Eid al-Fitr

In Chechnya, movement will be banned on days declared non-working on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announces. All residents of Chechnya should follow the Ramzan Kadyrov's appeal to celebrate the holiday at home, the Chechen Minister of Internal Affairs emphasizes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the day of April 24 marked the beginning of Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims, which will end with the holiday of Eid al-Fitr. In Chechnya, the period from May 23 to 26 was announced to be holidays. The Muftiate urged believers to celebrate the holiday in the family circle because of the spread of the coronavirus infection. Residents of Chechnya are disappointed with the cancellation of mass festivities.

On his Instagram page, Ruslan Alkhanov, Chechen Minister of Internal Affairs, referred to the calls voiced by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and Mufti Salakh Mezhiev to residents of the republic to stay at home.

By present, 1005 cases of the coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Chechnya, and 11 patients have died. Starting from April 13, residents of Chechnya are banned from leaving their homes without special permits.

On his "VKontakte" page, Ramzan Kadyrov voiced the call to residents of the republic to stay at home on holidays. "The Chechen operational headquarters and Muftiate announce the same decision: each family should celebrate the long-awaited and blessed holiday of Eid al-Fitr at home in self-isolation," the leader of Chechnya wrote.
