State Duma reacts to Kadyrov's appeal to fire doctors of Gudermes CDH

The medics' dismissal issues must be resolved according to the law, Leonid Ogul, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Care, has stated in his comment to the appeal of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to dismiss the doctors of the Gudermes Central District Hospital (CDH) after their complaints about the shortage of protective means. However, according to hospital medics, only one radiologist has been fired so far, while the rest of the staff has escaped sanctions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that professional of the Gudermes CDH had recorded complaints about the deficit of protective means, and the need to buy them for their own money. After that, one of the protesters, Zaur Borchashvili, a radiologist was fired. Medics asked Kadyrov to reinstate him at work, but he demanded to hold accountable those medics who had complained about their working conditions.

In his turn, Leonid Ogul, a Russian State Duma MP, said on air of the "Moscow Speaking" Radio that the law should be observe in medics' dismissal issues.

He also commented on Kadyrov's statement that the republic had enough personal protective means, indicating that in the current situation "there aren't many of them."

"We have everything in plenty – equipment, protective suits, medical masks, everything," Kadyrov said in his comment to the protests at the Gudermes CDH.

Kadyrov did not demand to dismiss doctors, but "simply said that these doctors really deserve," said Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen Minister for National Policy.

Minister Umarov has clarified that Kadyrov had meant Borchashvili, who was not involved in treating infected patients and could not know about the situation with the protective means at the hospital.
