Azerbaijan counts 23 shelling attacks on frontline
During the last 24 hours, positions of the Azerbaijani Army were shelled for 23 times a day from the territory of Armenia and on the border with Nagorno-Karabakh, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 14-15, Azerbaijan fixed 26 attacks on its positions.
"During the past 24 hours, units of the Armenian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire, by using heavy machine guns and sniper rifles, for 23 times in various sections of the frontline," the Azerbaijani MoD has stated on its website.
The shelling was carried out both from Armenia and from the territories controlled by the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities.
As of 8:55 a.m. Moscow time on May 16, the MoDs of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh had placed no comments to this statement on their websites.
After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict agreed on a ceasefire, but the confrontation did not stop. In 2019, Azerbaijan registered a period of almost complete ceasefire on the front, which lasted about a month, and Nagorno-Karabakh announced the lowest number of shelling attacks on its positions within 10 years.
