HRC "Memorial" fined for Facebook post
A court in Moscow has reconsidered the protocol issued by the "Roskomnadzor" (Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media) and repeatedly fined the Human Rights Centre "Memorial" by 300,000 roubles for the absence in the publications of its Ingush branch of the notice that the HRC is a so-called "foreign agent".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 1, 2019, the Tver District Court of Moscow fined the HRC "Memorial" by 300,000 roubles for the above violation. Then, the HRC's lawyers disagreed with the judgement, arguing that the Ingush branch's Facebook page contained only reposts of materials. On February 12, when considering the appeal by the Moscow City Court, it turned out that the judgement of the above district court was incorrectly drawn up; and it was returned back there for revision.
On May 15, the Tver District Court of Moscow re-examined the protocol of the "Roskomnadzor" in relation to the HRC "Memorial", issued for the absence of the "foreign agent" notice on the page of the HRC's representative office in Ingushetia, and repeatedly fined the HRC "Memorial" by 300,000 roubles.
The total amount of fines against structures of the HRC "Memorial" remains the same and amounts to 4.7 million roubles, the HRC has informed.
