Instagram users support Dagestani Muftiate's call to celebrate Eid al-Fitr at home

An appeal of the Dagestani Muftiate to celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Fitr at home because of the difficult situation with the spread of the coronavirus infection in the region is aimed for the good, users of Instagram note. In their comments, some users write that they will celebrate the holiday despite the epidemic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Shamil Alikhanov, the chairman of the Muftiate of Dagestan, urged believers to celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Fitr at home because of the difficult situation with the spread of the coronavirus infection in the republic.

Instagram users praised the recommendation voiced by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Dagestan. By 8:40 a.m. Moscow time, the post of the Dagestani Muftiate gained 62,465 views and 8608 likes, and users wrote 586 comments under it.

"We will have to obey our theologians. Please, people, keep order and stay at home under quarantine. You see what is happening in Dagestan and all over the world," user zzz0005z called on other Instagram users.

"It is sad, but the circumstances require us to do that. So, brothers, let's listen to the Muftiate to protect ourselves and our family members from the disease," user zero_lu_02 wrote.

Other users criticized the SAM of Dagestan and noted that the holiday of Eid al-Fitr should be celebrated without any restrictions.

"Come to us, we will give out sweets, and we will treat people. This is my holiday, I kept sawn (fasting) for a month for the sake of Allah, and I want to celebrate the holiday and give alms," user 9999999.0.000 wrote.
