Residents of Chechnya are sceptical about Kadyrov's promise to weaken quarantine

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has announced the opening, on May 11, of minor enterprises engaged in the sphere of services. However, local businessmen have suggested that under self-isolation, their work will be unprofitable. Once the motor traffic is very limited, receiving permits to reopen servicing stations is senseless, Instagram users have pointed out.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 27, Kadyrov announced a possible step-by-step lifting the restrictive measures in Chechnya. However, if entrepreneurs fail to observe security measures, their property will be seized, the head of Chechnya then threatened.

On April 13, the Chechen authorities completely closed the borders and allowed people to leave home only with permits three times a week for no more than two hours.

"The softening of restrictive measures will affect servicing stations, hardware stores and other small trading establishments," the head of Chechnya wrote on the VKontakte social network.

Some local entrepreneurs see no reason to resume their activities in the current situation.

"What is the point of opening technical servicing stations, if drivers can't drive out, and people are allowed visiting only closest shops?" Timur, a businessman, has explained.

In their turn, service workers expressed their hope that they could restart working.

"I work as a seller and sitting at home for almost two months ... I'm glad that I can restart working. Now, neither my husband nor I have chances to earn money. We live on the child allowance, all the stocks have run out," Ellina, a resident of Grozny, has complained.
