Analysts point to Kadyrov's indifference to restrictions he introduced in Chechnya
The Iftar (de-fasting), held by Ramzan Kadyrov with doctors, has demonstrated that the head of Chechnya is unwilling to change his lifestyle because of the restrictions imposed because of coronavirus, human rights defenders believe. A lawyer did not rule out the presence of an administrative offense in Kadyrov's actions.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the neglect of quarantine pointed to double standards of Chechen authorities. Thus, on May 3, Kadyrov held an Iftar with hospital heads. At the same time, ordinary citizens who violate the self-isolation regime in Chechnya are subjected to detentions and public humiliations.
By May 6, in Chechnya, the number of people infected with coronavirus reached 645; and 8 patient died.
As noted by Svetlana Gannushkina, the head of the "Civil Assistance" Committee, in Chechnya, the demand to observe the quarantine measures apply only to ordinary citizens.
Kadyrov and his entourage have lost touch with reality and cannot put themselves in place of ordinary residents of Chechnya, the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, believes.
Officials should set an example to their people in everything, including compliance with the law, Nasir Buluev, the representative of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations in Europe, is sure.
Nadezhda Ermolaeva, a lawyer, has noted that "if Kadyrov has contacted people who, in their turn, had contact with coronavirus patients, he endangers not only his life, but also lives of those around him."
