Gas workers' call not to accumulate debts during pandemic turns into Chechen people's complaints about lack of money
In Chechnya, gas services have demanded from local residents to pay their bills on time, despite the strict quarantine regime. In their turn, locals who are forced to stay out of work because of coronavirus, complain about absence of incomes.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since March 18, Chechnya is under the high-alert regime; and since April 13, residents of the republic are forbidden to leave their homes without special permits.
The demand to timely pay gas bills has caused outrage of most commentators on Instagram, who indicated that they are left without livelihood as they have to observe the self-isolation regime and stay out of work.
"Well, yes, stay at home – don't drink and don't eat; but you should pay utility bills on time," the user 21_vek_fox_ has noted ironically.
"We know where to pay our bills, but we don't know where to take money," the user r.m0057 writes.
"Where can I get money, if I have nothing to buy food for???" the user zaurbek_3131 is indignant.
The residents of Chechnya, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, have also complained that they now have no funds to pay for gas and other utilities.
"Most people have no opportunity to pay for housing and communal services; they even run out money to buy food. We have been unemployed for almost two months; all supplies are running out," said Suleiman, a local resident.
