Daudov criticizes father of many children despite traditions of mutual help in Chechnya

Appealing for help in a difficult situation does not contradict the Chechen traditions, and the sharp reaction of Magomed Daudov, Speaker of the Parliament of Chechnya, to the appeal for help, voiced by a father with many children, is unacceptable, Caucasian experts note.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the official reprimanded the man and proposed him to sell his car in order to "survive for longer time."

Seeking help is not a violation of the Chechen traditions, believes Mikhail Roschin, a Caucasian expert. Meanwhile, he criticized the Chechen authorities for refusing to help the family with many children. "In this situation, the official should rather apologize and provide help for the man seeking assistance. Such a person should be thanked for improving the demographic situation in the country," Mikhail Roschin said.

According to the Chechen traditions, people should help their fellow villagers, and a request for help from a man is considered acceptable, sociologist Lidia Kurbanova notes.

However, according to the sociologist, the humanitarian aid, sent to Chechnya in the 1990s and 2000s, gave rise to dependent sentiments among people. As a result, officials treat with suspicion those asking for help.

Traditionally, in Chechnya, people condemn when a man or a woman asks for alms, says Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations. He notes that people experience objective difficulties under the quarantine conditions.

Let us remind you that in April, Zara Tepsurkaeva, a resident of the Gekhi village in the Urus-Martan District, appealed for help to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. The husband of Zara Tepsurkaeva is disabled, and there are nine children in their family. Later, the woman apologized on the air of the Chechen TV Channel. Instagram users criticized the Chechen authorities for public humiliation of Zara Tepsurkaeva.
