Within fight against coronavirus, Georgia bans online sales

Since April 2, Georgian authorities banned online sales under the motive of concern for the health of employees of trading companies. Natiya Turnava, the head of the Ministry of Economy, has explained that companies will be allowed to continue working after they equip their employees with special protective uniforms.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 21, Georgia introduced the state of emergency, while on March 31, the universal quarantine and the curfew were added.

Since April 2, the Georgian government banned all online sales, except for foodstuffs and pharmaceutical products; the online traders will be allowed to go on with their business after they fulfil the demands of the Ministry of Public Health and the National Centre for Disease Control, namely, provide their staff with protective uniforms.

Company bosses are unhappy with the imposed ban.

Businesses have stopped working in Georgia; and online sales were the only way to work, the marketing manager of a Georgian trading company has commented on the situation. According to her story, companies managed to quickly launch their work in the Internet space; and now this work has been stopped.

"Today, businesses will completely stop – there are no revenues. We have debts and obligations; and, besides, company employees have their families," said the interlocutor of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, who asked not to name her.
