Facebook users ridicule fashion show in Paris staged by Kadyrov’s daughter

Commentators in the French-speaking segment of the Facebook have treated the show of the clothing collection of the Chechen "Firdaus" fashion house as "dictatorship's luxury" and a "carnival." The daughter of the assassinated human rights defender, Natalia Estemirova, has claimed the inadmissibility of such events in the country that shelters political refugees from Chechnya.

On February 25, for the first time, Paris hosted the fashion show of the above house, headed by Aishat Kadyrova, a daughter of the Chechen leader.

Amid human rights violations in Chechnya, Ms Kadyrova's participation in a fashion show in Paris looks strange, Chechen refugees have stated.

The "Paris Match" has noted that the "Firdaus" fashion house is run by "one of the twelve children of Ramzan Kadyrov, about whom one can at least say that he himself does not shine with elegance." The author noted the "strange and not very happy" atmosphere of the show.

The fact that in the country that has granted political asylum to thousands of natives of Chechnya, Kadyrov's daughter was allowed to hold an event of this scale is an alarming signal, Lana Estemirova, Natalia Estemirova's daughter, wrote in The Moscow Times. "Whoever helps organizing this from the French side ... they help in legitimizing Kadyrov's terrible regime, depicting his daughter as an ambassador for Chechen culture," the article says.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 30, 2019, in Grozny, Aishat Kadyrova opened the "Paris" restaurant. Social network users noted that the restaurant was opened amid unemployment and lack of money in Chechnya, while the title "Paris" is a contrast to the anti-Western rhetoric of Chechen authorities.
