Makhi Idrisov's escape recalls his ties with authorities of Chechnya

Makhi Idrisov, who escaped from arrest in Makhachkala, was a mediator in communication with Chechen authorities, but he failed to fulfil his promises, Ramazan Djalaldinov, a resident of the village of Kenkhi, has stated. Eduard Urazaev, a political analyst, and Gadjimurad Sagitov, a journalist, have expressed different opinions on what Idrisov's ties with Ramzan Kadyrov were.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Makhi Idrisov was detained in September 2019. During his search, firearms were found on him. A court in Makhachkala placed Idrisov under house arrest; and social network users treated this as a too lenient freedom restriction measure, unfair to other suspects in similar cases. On February 21, it became known that Idrisov hid from investigators and was put on the wanted list.

Idrisov's Instagram photos confirm his friendship with the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.

Idrisov had positioned himself as a person close to Kadyrov, posted photos with Chechen state officials, and, according to rumours, helped Dagestanis to receive Kadyrov's help, said Eduard Urazaev, a political analyst. He has noted that since Idrisov had "successful ties with Chechnya," rumours appeared immediately that he had fled there.

According to Gadjimurad Sagitov, the editor-in-chief of the "Novoye Delo" newspaper, if "one wants to run away inside Russia, then Chechnya is the best refuge." "If a person has money to escape abroad, then the best destinations are Turkey or Ukraine," he has stated.
