Women banned from visiting "Anji Arena" swimming pool in Dagestan

Starting from January 20, one of the largest swimming pools in Northern Caucasus, located in Kaspiysk at the "Anji Arena" sports complex, banned women from visiting it.

Some Facebook users have treated the ban as discrimination. The restriction is dictated by national and religious traditions that should be respected, their opponents argue.

"In 2020, women in a secular state are forbidden to visit swimming pools. This is a direct violation of the human right rights and the laws of the Russian Federation," Anna Fedorova wrote on Facebook.

Lawyer Marat Ismailov believes that the ban on women visiting the swimming pool violates the law.

However, some other social network users considered the actions of the swimming pool administration to be legitimate. "It's a private pool. If they want, they may not offer their services to some people!" wrote user Marat Kurbanov.
