Journalists urge ICRF head to take up Gadjiev's case

Colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev have timed their action demanding to objectively investigate the case of the arrested journalist of the "Chernovik" weekly to the visit of Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) to Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that colleagues and friends of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the religion section of "Chernovik", are holding regular pickets in his support in Makhachkala. These actions are intended to remind residents of Dagestan about "lawlessness of power structures," Gadjiev's colleagues believe.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev is under arrest since this June under the case of financing terrorism.

His colleagues demand to release him, treating the charges against him as unjustified.

On Monday, December 23, Alexander Bastrykin, the ICRF head, arrived on Dagestan on a working visit, the website of the head of the republic reports.
