Journalists discover that Khangoshvili's murderer worked for FSB
As stated by the authors of an international journalistic investigation, the alleged killer of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, shot dead in Berlin, had served in the "Vympel" (Pennant) FSB Special Forces unit and was involved in at least two murders in Russia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a native of the Pankisi Gorge and a veteran of the second Chechen war, was shot dead in Berlin on August 23, 2019.
According to the investigation conducted by The Insider, Bellingcat, and Der Spiegel, the Khangoshvili's killer has left Germany under a fake Russian passport to the name of Vadim Sokolov, while the real name of the suspect is Vadim Krasikov. The authors of the journalistic inquiry believe that earlier, in 2013, in Moscow, the Khangoshvili's killer cracked down Kabardino-Balkarian entrepreneur Albert Nazarov. Both murders are similar, in particular, in the murder style – in both cases the killer drove up to the place on a bicycle.
The alleged Khangoshvili's killer had served in the FSB unit "Vympel" and, together with two teammates from this special unit, took part in at least one more customized killing apart from the above entrepreneur's one, says the inquiry conducted by The Insider, Bellingcat and Der Spiegel, published on December 6.
"The main motive of the Berlin murder is the revenge for Khangoshvili's participation in the Georgian war," The Insider asserts.
