Kadyrov's visit to Emirates highlights his claim to be Kremlin's envoy
In its report on Ramzan Kadyrov's visit to the UAE, the Chechen television has made an excessive emphasis on the respect of Arab Sheikhs to the head of Chechnya, residents of the republic have stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October, Kadyrov visited the UAE and Jordan and met the king of Bahrain. Russian authorities perceive Kadyrov as their "trustee" in the countries of the Middle East, analysts have suggested.
On November 21, Kadyrov arrived in Abu Dhabi to express condolences on the death of the representative of the UAE president, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the press service of the head and government of Chechnya has reported.
"Expressing condolences on the death of a Muslim is the duty of every believer ... But to make it almost main news of the day ... is not entirely correct," said Salavdi, an employee of one of the republic's agencies.
"It seems that the main concern of our TV professionals is to show how Kadyrov is respected all over the world," Timur, a resident of Chechnya, has confirmed.
Kadyrov's actions contribute to his political image, but are also beneficial to Russian authorities, Mikhail Roschin, an Orientalist, is convinced.
Let us remind you that the attitude to Kadyrov in the Middle East is ambiguous. Thus, on October 17, the grandson of the former Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Salih Ibn Baz, accused Kadyrov of oppressing Wahhabis, because the head of Chechnya had declared Wahhabism contrary to the Koran.
