Murtazali Gasanguseinov stops pickets after meeting head of ICRF Branch

Investigators have provided Murtazali Gasanguseinov, the father of the murdered shepherd brothers, with all the materials of the check regarding the law enforcer, who had reported on the killing of militants in the Shamil District. The demands of his solo pickets have been fulfilled, but Gasanguseynov's lawyers are ready to challenge the investigators' findings.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murtazali Gasanguseinov and activist Djambulat Gasanov have been holding daily pickets demanding to dismiss and bring to criminal liability the law enforcer, who, at the time of the murder of the shepherds-brothers, Murtazali's sons, held the position of the head of the Shamil ROVD (District Interior Division), and then reported on the killing of two militants.

On August 23, 2016, Nabi and Gasangusein Gasanguseinov, 17-year-old and 19-year-old brothers, were killed during an operation conducted by law enforcers in the Shamil District of Dagestan.

On November 22, Murtazali Gasanguseinov and his legal representative, Djambulat Gasanov, had a meeting with Oleg Potanin, the acting head of the Dagestani Branch of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

At the very start of the meeting, Mr Potanin ordered to acquaint those who came with the materials of the pre-investigation check regarding the high-ranking law enforcer, whom activists treat as the person involved in the murder of Gasanguseinov brothers. Virtually all the demands of the picketers were met: now, the lawyers have to assess the justification of the conclusion of the pre-investigation check, Mr Gasanov has explained.

"Now, that we have the documents in hand, we can check the actions of law enforcement bodies and define who is in charge of the initially false information," the Telegram channel of the "Caucasian Knot" quotes Djambulat  Gasanov as saying.

Murtazali Gasanguseinov has stated that he will no longer go out to solo pickets. If, based on the results of studying the materials of the check, he and Gasanov decide that the investigators' conclusions are incorrect, they will go to court. "There'll be no continuation of pickets," Mr Gasanguseinov has promised.
