Deputy chair of "Muslim Unity" complains about summoning to police

In Baku, Elchin Gasymov, the deputy chairman of the movement "Muslim Unity", was summoned to the Chief Department for Combating Organized Crime and warned of the police interference in an event planned by the movement and dedicated to the anniversary of the events in Nardaran.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Elchin Gasymov was detained on November 5, 2015. Initially, he was accused of disorderly conduct and the use of violence against a public officer, but later six more articles were added to the case, including on terrorism. On December 28, 2017, the Baku Court for Grave Crimes sentenced Elchin Gasymov to 15 years of imprisonment for participating in the events in Nardaran in November 2015. On March 16, 2019, Elchin Gasymov and several other prisoners were pardoned by the President of Azerbaijan.

In November 2015, during the special operation in Nardaran, two law enforcers and five local residents were killed.

On November 19, Elchin Gasymov was summoned to the Chief Department for Combating Organized Crime (known as GUBOP), the "Turan" reported on the same day.

Elchin Gasymov was summoned to the GUBOP, since the movement "Muslim Unity" planned to hold on November 26 an event dedicated to the anniversary of the events in Nardaran, the "Turan" reported.

"They gave a warning to me. I have been told that if the event takes place, the police will intervene," said Elchin Gasymov as quoted by the "Contact.az" on November 19.

After the warning made by the law enforcement body, Elchin Gasymov was released from the GUBOP, the "Contact.az" reports.
