At least 11 activists detained at protest action in Tbilisi

Anna Subeliani, an activist, was hospitalized with a wound from the rally of LGBT opponents held at the "Amirani" Cinema in Tbilisi. Policemen detained at least 11 protesters, who tried to break into the building.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Patriarchy and opponents of LGBT people stood against the screening of the film "And then we danced", telling about the love of two performers of Georgian folk dances, at Georgian cinemas. On November 8, the day of the film premiere, at the "Amirani" Cinema, where the screening was to take place, units of police and special fighters were mobilized. Protesters started a confrontation with law enforcers and tried to break through the police cordon.

Two protesters were detained in front of the "Amirani" Cinema before the start of the screening for disobeying the police and hooliganism. Policemen urged the protesters to observe the order, recalling that all the offenses would be stopped, but the confrontation continued. As of 7:59 p.m. Moscow time, the number of detainees reached 11, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the venue.

After first protesters' skirmishes with law enforcers, additional police units were brought to the building of the "Amirani" Cinema. Employees of the MIA made a corridor for letting spectators into the cinema: only those with tickets were let in. Opponents of LGBT people stood with banners in front of the cordon of special fighter, periodically entering into verbal disputes with spectators and chanting: "Georgia!" and "Shame on you!"

During a new skirmish at the "Amirani" Cinema, Anna Subeliani, a civil activist, suffered; she was hospitalized by an ambulance.
