Court leaves Robert Kocharyan under custody

Today, the court has left Robert Kocharyan, the second president of Armenia, under the arrest. The court's decision provoked a protest rally of his supporters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 5, the Robert Kocharyan's defence again requested the court to release the defendant on bail. The court hearing was held amid the protest actions of supporters and opponents of the second president of Armenia.

The former president of Armenia is accused of receiving a bribe of 3 million US dollars. He is also involved as a defendant in the case of the suppression of protests in Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008, during which ten people were killed.

Today, Judge Anna Danibekyan has announced that she is dismissing the defenders' motion, the "Arminfo" reports.

In response, the supporters of Robert Kocharyan held a protest rally in front of the courthouse. They stated that the judge "was killing justice." The next court hearing in the Robert Kocharyan's case is scheduled for November 12, the "Sputnik-Armenia" reports.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" does not have any comments from the Robert Kocharyan's defence.
