Ramzan Kadyrov's visits to Middle East show his role as a confidant of Moscow
The foreign policy activities of the Chechen leader suggest that the Kremlin perceives him as a confidant in the countries of the Middle East, note Caucasian and Islamic scholars.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October, Ramzan Kadyrov paid a visit to Jordan, and in August, when the "Pride of Muslims" Mosque, one of the largest in Europe, was opened in Shali, members of 43 foreign delegations arrived in Chechnya.
Ramzan Kadyrov becomes the "Foreign Minister for Islamic Affairs," believes Alexei Filatov, the president of the Russia's Elite Alpha Group Veterans' Association. According to him, the above fact may indicate the Ramzan Kadyrov's upcoming resignation from the post of the leader of Chechnya and his transfer to another post.
Mikhail Roschin, a researcher engaged in the oriental studies, does not believe that Ramzan Kadyrov is preparing to leave the post of the leader of Chechnya. According to Mikhail Roschin, the international activities of Ramzan Kadyrov only strengthen his position in Chechnya.
"Ramzan Kadyrov has become a kind of brand of Northern Caucasus in the international space," noted publicist Ruslan Gereev.
"The Ramzan Kadyrov's visits to Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain are associated with respect for Ramzan Kadyrov in those countries," said Andrei Serenko, the coordinator of the Volgograd club of experts of the Lower Volga region.
