Journalist Milashina refuses to comment on Kadyrov's rude joke

Elena Milashina, a journalist, refused to discuss the proposal for marriage instead of human rights violations in Chechnya. Social network users' opinions about the appropriateness of such humour on the part of Kadyrov diverged; some commentators have treated it as a veiled threat.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kadyrov suggested that criticism of the Chechen authorities in Milashina's articles dictated caused by her insult to Chechen men, and suggested "finding a worthy fiancé for her."

On October 14, Elena Milashina, a journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" reported a "massive cleansing" of high-ranking Chechen officials suspected of disloyalty to Kadyrov.

On air of the NNS (National News Service) TV Channel, Elena Milashina reacted sharply negatively to the proposal to comment on Kadyrov's initiative. "I don't comment on idiocy," she said.

The joking marriage proposal is backed by a call for sexual violence, the user tulaeva_dilya wrote on the Instagram.

Some commentators also criticized Kadyrov for his rudeness. Many described the Kadyrov's statement as a "circus" and "clowning."

In the Chechen group eldit_net on the Instagram, most commentators found Kadyrov's statement ridiculous. Many supported him by suggesting him to marry Milashina.

Apti Alaudinov, a deputy head of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya, said, in his interview with a journalist, that Kadyrov is a "global figure", while "enemies of Russia and Chechnya are trying to denigrate him."
