Stavropol Territory: MD members convicted for extremism

A court in Stavropol has sentenced two members of the international neo-Nazi organization "Misanthropic Division" (MD), banned in Russia, to long prison terms.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 17, 2015, the Krasnoyarsk Territorial Court declared the inter-regional national-radical association "Misanthropic Division" to be extremist one, and banned its activities in Russia.

The defendants, a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were detained in April 2017, the "Interfax-South" reported on October 9, citing its law enforcement source.

According to the source, during a search, things with the symbols of the Ukrainian "Azov" regiment banned in Russia, as well as two grenades and a homemade pistol with six rounds, were seized from the young people. "They had planned to use these weapons for attacking law enforcers in Stavropol," the source said.

"One of the defendants has been sentenced to 7.5 years in a maximum security penal colony and a fine of 100,000 roubles. The young woman was sentenced to four years and three months in a general security penal colony and a fine of 30,000 roubles," the "Interfax-South" quotes its source as saying.
