Kadyrov forces four wedding participants to apologize

Two more wedding participants criticized by Ramzan Kadyrov for breaching Chechen customs have posted their video apologies on the Internet. Kadyrov improves his rating by using Chechens' traditionalism of condemning such behaviour, said Ruslan Kutaev, the President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 24, at his meeting with ministers, Ramzan Kadyrov criticized the wedding videos posted in social networks and stated that he would not allow local customs infringers to live in Chechnya. In particular, he condemned the resident of Chechnya, who starred in a video with his daughter on her wedding day. Later, the man himself recorded a video with an apology for his "unworthy act." On the same day, another resident of Chechnya publicly repented for some joking behaviour with his bride at a wedding.

Another video, demonstrated by Kadyrov at the meeting, showed a bride in a wedding dress singing with a woman wearing a hijab.

Then, a video was spread on the YouTube, in which the woman who sang in the wedding video repented of her "negligence."

"We knew that such songs are contrary to Chechen decency and Adats. I urge other girls who get married not to make such videos," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has translated the woman's words from the Chechen language.

Another video with an apology for violating the Chechen wedding customs was posted on September 26 in the group "ChP Grozny" on the Instagram.

"The video spread in social networks shows me, the bride's uncle close to her. According to our Adats, the bride's father and brother should have been hiding. I made a mistake and, therefore, I appeal to you not to repeat what I did," on September 27, the "Kavkaz.Realii" gave the translation of what the man said in the video.

By criticizing wedding videos, Kadyrov has benefited from the feelings of local residents, who really condemn such behaviour, said Ruslan Kutaev, the President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations. "Authorities know that all Chechens reject such behaviour and condemn it. Therefore, they immediately picked up the topic and acted as defenders of Chechen traditions and Adats. It was a good opportunity for them to win political points," he said.
