Tkibuli townspeople support protesting miners by action near Mayoralty

Workers from Chiatura and Zestafoni, Mayoralty employees and schoolchildren have joined the protest action of Tkibuli miners, who demand payment of their wage debts.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 24, 15 miners of the Mindeli Mine and the same number of workers of the Dzidziguri Mine in Tkibuli went underground and refused to come to the surface until their wages for August were paid.

The miners' protest in Tkibuli continued on September 25 near the Mayoralty; the protest was supported by Mayoralty employees, schoolchildren, miners from the city of Chiatura and workers of the "Ferro" Combine from Zestafoni. Protesters were sitting on the steps with posters: "We demand our wages" and "Solidarity to miners". They said that they had not received wages for August, which they were to receive before September 15. "Everyone has loans in banks, and everyone has debts. Naturally, we SMS-messages about our debt; and no one wonders why I can't pay," one of the protesters name Giorgi said on the air of the Georgian "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Company, whose words were translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Mindiya Sabanadze, a miner, said that protesters expect a decision of their problems at the sitting of the Georgian government scheduled for the morning on September 26. Depending on the Govt's decision, miners will define the plan of further actions, he said.
