In Quarter 2 of 2019 in Dagestan, five people fell victim to armed conflict

During the period from April 1 to June 30, 2019, at least five persons suffered from the armed conflict in Dagestan. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

All the victims were killed, nobody was wounded. Law enforcers claimed that all of them were militants.

On May 24, during a counterterrorist operation (CTO) in the Kizilyurt District, law enforcers were shelled while inspecting a house in the village of Sultan-Yangi-Yurt. Three militants were killed in the resulting shootout.

On June 22, two residents of Makhachkala were killed in a shootout between the villages of Andirei and Karlanyurt in the Khasavyurt District. According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the casualties were supporters of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation by the court.

Lat us remind you that in Quarter 1 of 2019, four persons fell victim to the armed conflict in the republic.

During the same period in 2018, 17 people fell victim to the armed conflict.

In general, in 2018, at least 49 people suffered from the armed conflict in Dagestan: most of them were liquidated militants; a similar situation was in 2017. Overall, in 2018, the count of victims among law enforcers and civilians went down: the total number of victims, as compared with 2017, dropped by 10.9%.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report.
