Ingush law enforcers get under inquiry for refusing to disperse rally in Magas

In Ingushetia, thirteen policemen fired after a rally in Magas for refusing to use force against activists, are charged with disobeying an order. The law enforcers tried to achieve reinstatement, but the court refused them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 26, residents of Ingushetia demanding resignation of Yunus-Bek Evkurov extended, without authorities' permit, their protest rally in a square of the city of Magas. In the morning on March 27, this led to clashes with law enforcers. On March 29, Kaloi Akhilgov, a lawyer and former press secretary of the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, said that the battalion of patrol-and-post service (PPS), which, according to his data, refused to disperse protesters in Magas on March 26, had been disbanded.

A criminal case was opened against 13 fired policemen under the article on the failure of an employee of an interior body to fulfil an order, their advocate, Magomed Kuriev, said on August 20, adding that on August 19, there was a court session to consider the 13 policemen's lawsuit about their reinstatement.

"Thirteen persons filed a lawsuit; it was rejected," said Kuriev.
