Dagestan journalists treat Kadyrov's words about a rally in Grozny as provocation

A group of Makhachkala residents is preparing a mass action to protest against Ramzan Kadyrov's about Imam Shamil. The Kadyrov's call to organize this action in Grozny is a deliberate provocation, Dagestani journalists have suggested.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, on the 20th anniversary of the militants' invasion into Dagestan, the head of Chechnya compared the events of 1999 with the Caucasian War of the 19th century, accusing Imam Shamil of repressions against Chechens for their unwillingness to confront Russia. Residents of Dagestan, outraged by Kadyrov's words, gathered for a rally on August 8 in Makhachkala, but policemen convinced the crowd to disperse.

Tumso Ambdurakhmanov, a blogger, has treated the words of the head of Chechnya as a provocation of interethnic conflict.

Kadyrov, aware of the intention of Makhachkala residents to hold a rally, invited them to hold it in Grozny.

Kadyrov is an experienced politician; and any of his statements is well thought out, Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the "Derbent" News Agency, believes.

"The head of Chechnya is deliberately shaking the situation in Dagestan," he said, adding that Kadyrov probably seeks to "show his power in the region" by such provocative actions.

Rasul Asad, the author of the "Ask Rasul" Telegram channel, believes that the protest against Kadyrov's words in Dagestan and an attempt to hold an action in Makhachkala have touched on the head of Chechnya. "Kadyrov is accustomed to the fact that no one openly expresses dissatisfaction with his actions," the blogger has added.
