Dagestani social network users condemn Kadyrov's words about Imam Shamil

Ramzan Kadyrov's words about Imam Shamil have provoked a flash mob in social networks: residents of Dagestan express their words of respect to the Imam and remind the head of Chechnya about his father's political reversal.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kadyrov, while commenting on the 1999 militants' raid, treated the thesis that "Chechen terrorists attacked Dagestan" as false. The head of Chechnya also compared the events that happened 20 years ago with the Caucasian War of the 19th century, accusing Imam Shamil of repression against Chechens for their unwillingness to confront Russia. The Dagestan Muftiate has criticized Kadyrov for his words about Imam Shamil.

Rasul Asad, a blogger, has drawn parallels between the political paths of Imam Shamil and Akhmat Kadyrov, pointing out the inconsistency of the present head of Chechnya.

"He pictures his father, Akhmat Kadyrov, who declared jihad to Russia, as a defender, who stopped the war by agreeing to the power of the Russian Federation in Chechnya ... In fact, Ramzan Kadyrov is trying to reproach Imam Shamil for concluding a peace agreement with the Russian Empire, the same what the deceased Akhmat Kadyrov did," the blogger wrote in his "Ask Rasul" Telegram channel.

Social media users have condemned Kadyrov's words about Imam Shamil, seeing in them a threat to good relations between the peoples of Dagestan and Chechnya.

"Ramzan, you fought against the Russian army yesterday, and today you are leading the republic that is part of the Russian Federation," Bulach Chankalaev, a Dagestan public figure, wrote in his Instagram.
