CTO in Ingushetia becomes first since early 2019

The counterterrorist operation (CTO) introduced today in the village of Voznesenskoye has become the first in Ingushetia since January 2019. The shootout in the CTO zone is the second armed incident in the republic since the early 2019.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the CTO legal regime was introduced in the Malgobek District, when a shootout occurred between law enforcers and militants.

No CTOs have been conducted in Ingushetia since June 8, 2018, when law enforcers killed suspected militants in Nazran.

On January 12, three policemen and Murad Kodzoev, a son of the former head of the Nasyr-Kort administration, were wounded when a car of Ibragim Eldjarkiev, the head of the Centre for Countering Extremism (CCE), was shelled. Ibragim Eldjarkiev himself got no injuries. One of the wounded policemen died.
