Necropolis in North Ossetia is temporarily closed for tourists because of video with skulls

The authorities of North Ossetia have decided to develop a concept for the further functioning of the Dargavs Necropolis after the video appeared on the Internet, showing skulls in the openings of the "City of the Dead" constructions. Social networks users talk about morality and offer to organize the protection of crypts.

According to the Ministry of Culture of North Ossetia, the "City of the Dead" near the village of Dargavs in the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia includes 97 crypts of the 14th-18th centuries and is under the protection of the UNESCO. This is the largest necropolis of Northern Caucasus.

Elbrus Kubalov, the Minister of Culture of North Ossetia has explained that in the necropolis, tourists touch the exhibits and pull them out of crypts; therefore, it is temporarily closed, the "Interfax-South" reports.

According to Mr Kubalov, information boards with the rules of conduct for tourists should be placed in the territory of the necropolis.
