New "Rustavi-2" owner fires Gvaramiya from the post of director general

Kibar Khalvashi has appointed his advocate Paata Saliya the general director of the "Rustavi-2". Nika Gvaramiya refused to leave the post of the head of the TV Company, stating that his contract is valid until the end of 2020.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has found the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) of Georgia to transfer the assets of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company back to the former owner Kibar Khalvashi to be legitimate. The latter has assured that he has no plans to interfere in the editorial policy of the TV Company, but threatened to dismiss Nika Gvaramiya from the post of the director general.

Today, a sitting of the partners of the Broadcasting Company "Rustavi-2" took place, which freed Nika Gvaramiya from the post of director general of the company, having appointed Paata Saliya instead. The minutes of the sitting of the partners was signed by Kibar Khalvashi, who applied to the state registry service with a request to make changes to the registration data, says the website of the National Agency of State Registry. It notes that the appointment of Paata Saliya has been confirmed.

In his turn, Nika Gvaramiya has stated that he is not going to resign until December 31, 2020. "I have a contract, in which the dates are stipulated, and I'm going to complete on this date," Mr Gvaramiya said on the air of the TV Company.
