Ingush residents disappointed with detention of local activist

Activist Zarifa Sautieva has become the first woman detained after rallies in Ingushetia, and that is a blatant fact for the Caucasus, users of social networks emphasize. Local residents noted that they were hoping in vain for an end to the persecution of activists after the change of power in the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zarifa Sautieva, the deputy director of the Memorial complex to victims of repression in Nazran, took part in rallies against the change of the border with Chechnya. After the October protests, she claimed she had been dismissed for political reasons.

On July 12, law enforcers brought Zarifa Sautieva to Nalchik. She faces the arrest in a criminal case on the use of violence against policemen at a rally in Magas, her advocate reports.

"Now, they detain even women ... It turns out that unhappy law enforcers were beaten not only by elders, but also by women," Timur Uzhakhov wrote on Facebook.

Political analyst Denis Sokolov treats the detentions of Zarifa Sautieva and Rashid Maisigov, a correspondent of the "Fortanga" as "ritual." According to him, the main demand of the Ingush activists is to release political prisoners.

Isabella Yevloeva, another Ingush activist, wrote on Facebook that she also feared arrest.
